WHAT I LEARNED IN A YEAR
Celebrating My Work Anniversary
Lorena Armenta, Assistant Event Manager
19 May 2017
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since I came aboard as an official part of the team at The Event Concierge!! I have been asked to highlight three things that I’ve learned about event planning in the last year:
1. Phone calls are powerful in event management.
A phone call sometimes results in a faster response than an email. A friendly phone call is also more personal and goes a long way, especially when there is need to decipher the tone of an email. This year has taught me to pick up the phone more often.
2. Details are everything when planning an event.
As an outsider looking in, an event or meeting may look simple. However, event planners have to think of it all. Every detail is taken into consideration down to the placement of the podium on the stage, agenda times, and meeting breaks. Clients come to The Event Concierge with a vision; our team manages the vision from every angle to make sure it can be carried out with minimal glitches.
From family reunions to private dinners, our personal touch and professional attitude will ensure that your special event is planned to create cherished moments and everlasting memories.
3. People will misunderstand what event management entails.
Our days as event planners and coordinators are spent reading contracts, reviewing budgets, and in constant communication with our clients and suppliers. The highlight of this job can entail watching an event or meeting unfold seamlessly, knowing every aspect of it was well planned and flawlessly executed.
